Horze Fly Hood is a soft mesh fly mask with fleece binding around the edges for a sleek, smooth feel against the horse. This features padded non-fleece foam binding at poll and noseband, which will not pick up hay like fuzzy fleece. Very durable, this covers more of the cheek/jowl and poll/top of neck than other fly hoods, outperforming and outlasting other brands.
This fastens under the chin with Velcro for a secure tight fit. The entire edge, even under the foam binding is elastic nylon so there are no gaps making it extremely comfortable for the horse.
I have the Cob size which fits my 14.2 hand Arabian, as she has a small head and ears. It is snug but not tight. There is padded non-fleece foam binding at poll and noseband, which will not pick up hay like fuzzy fleece. This mask covers more of the cheek/jowl and poll/top of neck than other masks I have used. There are two velcro straps with soft strap sandwiched between two rough layers to prevent tampering by herdmates. I have to attach the one near the throat latch with only about 1 inch of the velcro and no overlap, since this mare is on the large side of Cob size. I may sew an extension on to compensate. The fabric is softer on the silvery gray and stiffer on the mesh white parts. The entire edge, even under the foam binding is elastic nylon so there are no gaps. The stitching appears strong. I usually get two summers use on flymasks, and the area over the eyes wears out first so has to be replaced. Horses are turned out daytimes. I'll have to update on durability later, but it appears well-made. Label: made in China, wash separately at 30 degrees C. 100% polyester, no dry clean, no iron, no bleach, no dryer. I like it a lot!
