Polo Wraps or Track Bandages

Polo wraps are primarily used for schooling. Often made from fleece with a hook and loop closure, they insulate and warm your horse’s legs during workouts, support the tendons, protect from brushing, scrapes, cuts, and rubs, and provide support on takeoff and landing from jumps. Neoprene Leg Wraps from Horze are ideal for more intense workouts. Polo wraps are great for mounted work and lunging and come in a variety of colors and styles to match your barn colors. Ride and lunge your horse with confidence with a set of high quality polo wraps from Horze Equestrian, B Vertigo and Back on Track.

Standing or track bandages are useful after strenuous workouts and are used in conjunction with pillow wraps and liniment or poultice to support recovery. They are applied in the same way as polo wraps.

Polo wraps should be worn on the cannon bone, between the knee and fetlock joints. To apply a polo wrap, begin by placing the leading edge of the polo wrap on the inside of the leg you’re wrapping, at the top of the cannon bone, below the knee joint. Wind the wrap around the leg, always wrapping from front to back, and only tightening the wrap at the front of the leg. Wind the wrap from the top of the cannon bone, down over the fetlock joint and back up, forming an inverted “V” as you wrap the fetlock. Try to apply even pressure as you wrap, and think “front to back, inside to outside,” as you move down and then up the cannon bone. When you’ve finished wrapping your horse’s leg, secure the polo with the hook and loop tab.

When you’re done riding or lunging your horse, remove the wraps immediately and clean the legs. Always inspect your polo wraps for debris or dirt that could irritate your horse before applying them. Available in a large variety of colors and styles from Horze Equestrian, B Vertigo, Back on Track.
