Halters

Every horse needs a halter and Horze Equestrian has a range to suit all tastes and budgets. For daily use choose an affordable synthetic halter in a stand-out color or a nylon one in handsome natural tones. Crystal-accented halters add that special touch of bling, while padding and fleece protect your competition horse when he's on the road. For a traditional look select one of our bridle-quality leather halters with padded nosebands and headpieces and brass fittings for strength and sophistication, great for daily use at home or away. Broad leather straps look perfect on a warmblood, while narrow ones suit Arabians or thoroughbreds. Look truly professional by selecting a top-of-the-range leather halter from B Vertigo with triple stitching and a rolled throat latch. Pony halters have been carefully designed for small pony heads and tiny children's hands and sparkle with jeweled nosebands. When winter evenings impose use a reflective halter for high-visibility protection. Whatever your budget and equestrian style, Horze Equestrian has the perfect halter from Horze, B Vertigo and Finntack.

Halters

Horze Equestrian features a large selection of durable and stylish horse halters designed for use during shows and daily handling. Halters make it easy to handle horses for leading, tying or securing with cross ties. Sizing a halter is based on the size and age of the horse or pony. Foal halters are among the smallest and typically feature an adjustment point at the top of the nose for ease; leather foal halters often feature a short grab strap for ease of use. Halters are sometimes available in weanling or yearling sizes, but are more commonly available in pony, cob, horse or full and or warmblood or extra full sizes.

Choosing a Halter

Horse halters are available in a variety of materials and designs; the most common types are leather, nylon, rope or collars. Halters typically feature a noseband, cheekpieces, throatlatch and crownpiece. Leather and nylon halters feature attachment rings on either side of the nose for use with cross ties and a ring under the chin for leading or tying. These styles of halters are typically adjustable under the chin and at the crown with a buckle; they also generally have a snap at the throat for ease of use.

Horze Equestrian and Finntack offer leather halters that are suitable for daily or show use. Higher quality leather halters often have reinforced stitching; triple stitching is common in halters intended for shows. Many people will also add an engraved nameplate for use at shows. While leather halters are traditionally featured in brown leather with brass fittings, they are also available in black leather with silver tone fittings. Leather halters are also available with features like soft padding or with decorative accents like crystals, raised designs or fancy stitching.

Nylon style halters are very popular for daily use and Horze Equestrian offers a wide selection of styles by Finntack and B Vertigo. Nylon halters designed by Finntack are more utilitarian, offering a range of basic styles, as well as overlay styles in common barn and racing colors. Horze Equestrian creates durable nylon halters in basic styles as well as more stylish designs. The addition of soft padding or fleece at the nose and crown adds comfort for your horse. Other design details include fashionable embroidered ribbon accents, contrasting trim colors or crystals. Reflective accents are also a great choice for horses that are turned out in pastures bordering or near roads. B Vertigo halters offer upgraded premium materials and design features for the discerning horse owner.

Horze Equestrian also offers less common halter styles include rope and headcollars. Rope halters, as the name implies are made out of a single strand of rope that is typically doubled over and tied into a halter shape; because of this, the halter is secured by a tie at the top of the throatlatch by the crown. Rope halters are great to keep on hand as a spare and to use as an alternative to a chain shank for reinforced control. Because rope halters feature a single rope with notes, pressure is applied around the head when the horse resists. Rope halters typically feature a lead rope that is tied on rather than snapped and as they do not feature side rings they are not typically used with cross ties. Headcollars feature a single strap, and although they can be used for leading and tying, they are often used for turnout for breeding mares, or for horses that will not keep a traditional halter on when turned out in the pasture.
